West wrestlers place 4th at state

CYPRESS - Victoria West's Emma Jones and Eileen Webb finished fourth at the UIL state wrestling meet on Saturday at the Berry Center in Cypress.
Jones, of the 128-pound weight class, lost 5-1 in her match against El Paso Bel Air in the consolation finals.
Webb, of the 138-pound weight class, fell to Canyon Randall in her consolation finals match.
Jones captured two wins on Friday and Saturday to finish 4-2 at state.
Webb also compiled a 4-2 record.
Overall, four wrestlers from West and one wrestler from Victoria East competed at the state meet.
Beeville had six wrestlers advance to the state tournament.
Jeremy Gonzalez, who fell in both of his matches Friday, was the first East wrestler to qualify for state in five years.
West's Javier Chapa, of the 106-pound weight class, also fell Friday. Chapa fell in his first match against Frisco Reedy and a 7-5 decision to Bryan.
Dante Hunter lost by fall in 2:48 to Frisco Wakeland. Hunter also came up short in his second match to Carrolton Creekview on Friday for the Warriors.
Jarrett May (126) finished 0-2 for Beeville. Jesse Castro won one match and lost two, while Brandon Francisco (182) and Jayden Lightheart compiled a 1-2 record for the Trojans.
For the Lady Trojans, Josie Hodges, of the 110-pound weight class, finished 0-2.
Peyton Knapp (148) fell in her first match before wrestling in consolation. Knapp finished 2-2 at the tournament.
